We Work With State Legislators...

Advocacy involves applying pressure and influence on the individuals and institutions that hold the power to give you what you want. Successful advocates understand the process, know who has the authority, and are equipped with the most effective tactics and strategies to sway those in power.

Advocacy is more powerful when it is backed by data and research. We believe that measuring factors affecting child well-being can drive meaningful change. Each year, VOICES publishes the Alabama Kids Count Data Book, which tracks 70 indicators of child well-being. This resource provides Alabamians with a clear understanding of how our children are faring. To learn more about our Kids Count Project, visit our research page. Our research empowers VOICES to advocate for the needs of Alabama’s children. It establishes a benchmark that ensures public accountability and creates a roadmap that fosters the political support necessary to pass policies benefiting children and families.
