Apreill Hartsfield is the Director of Policy, Advocacy & Research for VOICES for Alabama’s Children. She works with staff and consultants to ensure the organization meets its mission. Apreill has returned after previously serving as VOICES’ Director of Policy and Alabama Kids Count, and Communications Director. With 25 years of experience in writing, editing, data analysis, and public policy, she is well-equipped for this role.

In overseeing the Alabama Kids Count Project, Apreill coordinates a team of researchers, a graphic designer and a communications consultant while conducting research, identifying trends, and developing policy-driven recommendations. She also builds relationships with policymakers and stakeholders to support the organization’s goals.

Previously, Apreill worked as a senior communications associate for the Southern Poverty Law Center and on the marketing team at Beasley Allen Law Firm, managing the firm’s monthly publication. After law school, she clerked for Lee County Family Court in Alabama.

Apreill holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and public communication from the University of North Alabama and a Juris Doctor from Faulkner University Thomas Goode Jones School of Law. She lives in Prattville with her family.
